As someone new to this industry, I'm staggered by how utterly useless and complacent software companies are. At some point, there won't be any point of moving from Blender to C4D, because the features that make C4D a good choice will be present in Blender.
Those beginners are all tomorrow's professionals, and Blender's developers will continue adding features and refining the product. Right now, every single piece of advice for a beginner is "download Blender".
